    Why you should consider Sportfolio

    London 2012

Cast your mind back to London 2012 when the whole nation came together almost as one, to celebrate the magnificent achievements of our Team GB athletes.
We all remember Mo Farrah, Jessica Ennis and Bradley Wiggins who all became household names during that special time.
    We all remember Jessica Ennis.
You may, if your delve into the deepest part of your memory banks, also remember Jade Jones winning Gold in taekwondo or even Samantha Murray who won our last gold medal of the games in modern pentathlon.
    Samantha Murray-Not so well remembered.
The lesser known of all our medal winners have one thing in common with the more celebrated names. They worked equally as hard in their chosen sport to reach the peak of sporting greatness.

If you have ever taken part in sport at any level, when you first start out you do it for enjoyment. Then as you progress you start to wonder what may be possible.
If you are a parent of that sports person you support your child, both in terms of the sacrifices you make in both time and money to help them progress.

A young 7 year old gymnast who's first entry into sport I have been documenting is a good example. Their parents take her 4 or 5 times a week on a 40 round trip to Worcester from Birmingham. Apart from the time and money involved for petrol and club subscriptions there are club leotards and track suits  and competition entry fees. Plus many other hidden expenses.
Young Ellie-At the start of her sporting adventure.
This couple also have 3 other children so you can see that they all make a massive commitment to Ellie's development as a gymnast.

You can work out the rest for yourself. Its a grand journey through sport with many memories gathered along the way.  This is where I come in.

Capture the moment. The Emotional Moment !

If you, your child or your partner or friend take part in sport at any level, you should document the journey. In years to come they will want to look back on the photos to remind them of a special and important time in their lives.

    A warning about digital photography.

Everyone with a smart phone these days has a pretty decent camera on their phone. With digital cameras it is so easy to take hundreds of photos that are sometimes used on Facebook but then left on the phone and rarely printed.
these memories are vanishing into cyberspace.

Even if you download your photos onto a disc how many do you finally get round to getting printed ? The problem is phones get lost or upgraded and your precious photos are gone forever unless you have taken the time to have some hard copies printed.

As a wedding photographer on several occasions I have been asked by wedding couples if I can retrieve wedding photos from a scratched or damaged disc. Because following their wedding, they chose a disc instead of a wedding album they have no photos of their special because the disc is faulty or lost.

So many memories are being lost forever because of the digital revolution.

I think you get the picture by now. Treasure the memories.

Below is a picture of myself with my junior football squad taken almost 20 years ago. All these young lads are now approaching 30 years of age.

I am so glad I took time to get this photo printed. Imagine if I had just saved it on an old floppy disc !
